Hello,
Junkenpo is the name of the rock-paper-scissors decision-making game I grew up playing–sometimes to decide sides on a team, or turns for a game, sometimes just for fun. It’s one of the first non-food items I think of when I think about what it means to be “local” in Hawaii.
As far as actual information about me goes… I’m 40. I’m a high school teacher. I’m married. My husband works at Costco. I have an 8-year-old who has a crooked front tooth and smiles often. I enjoy doing what I do and living on Maui. I hope you’ll enjoy following me around the island, too.
Mahalo,
Junkenpo
I watched a kid tonight playing little league -from Hawaii doing Junk an’ apo made me laugh and remember doing this a kid on Lanai
